Your oral health can affect your overall health, so many people are diligent about maintaining good oral hygiene. You may be cautious about what you eat and drink, and what goes into your mouth during dental treatment. Dr. Michael Morgan is a holistic dentist who understands your concerns.
Holistic Dentistry Practices
If you are concerned about the dental materials used to restore your teeth, Dr. Morgan can put you at ease.
Amalgam, or silver, fillings are made of a variety of metals, including copper, silver, tin, zinc, and about 50 percent mercury. Mercury is toxic, so many people are concerned that as amalgam fillings wear from biting and chewing, mercury vapor will be absorbed into their body and harm their health.
Dr. Morgan only uses white composite when fillings are required for your teeth. An amalgam filling requires much removal of your tooth structure, and it weakens the tooth. A composite filling requires little removal of your tooth structure, bonds to your tooth, and strengthens it. It’s healthier.
Sanitary Amalgam Removal
If you want old amalgam fillings removed, Dr. Morgan offers sanitary removal. This process isolates the amalgam-filled tooth to prevent mercury vapor and filling particles from coming in contact with other parts of your mouth. The filling is then divided into large chunks and vacuumed out at high speed.
Biocompatible Dental Materials
Biocompatible dental materials are the least toxic way to restore your teeth—and Dr. Morgan uses the most biocompatible materials available. His approach is to treat the whole patient by ensuring the dental materials used in your mouth support your overall health, not just your oral health. Patients with metal sensitivities, allergies, or a sensitive immune system can benefit from the care Dr. Morgan takes to provide you with the least reactive materials.
