I’ve been working very hard to get myself healthy. I’ve switched to a whole foods diet (thanks to the documentary Forks over Knives). I’ve started working out four days a week. I’d like to go to a holistic dentist, but I’ve been looking over my provider’s book and don’t see them listed. Will insurance cover it if I go to a holistic dentist?
It’s fantastic that you’re taking such great care of yourself. I bet you’re going to have worlds more energy than you’ve had in the past. It’s understandable that you’re going to want a dentist who you can trust to take care with what they put in your body as well. Holistic dentists do just that. They will never use any substance that could have a negative impact on your body. They care about more than just your teeth.
The same is not true of every dentist. We still have dentists, even in this day and age, who are using mercury-laden fillings. They do it both because it’s always served them well and the American Dental Association (ADA) still says amalgam fillings are perfectly safe.
It’s no surprise that patients are not as willing to just open their mouths and allow a known toxic substance to be bonded to their teeth just because the ADA says so. You’d never have to worry about that with a holistic dentist. They only use composite fillings, which are 100% mercury free.
Additionally, they’re equipped to remove any old amalgam fillings you still have in a way that is safe and protects you from any mercury ingestion, including mercury vapors, using a sanitary amalgam removal. You can learn more about this on Dr. Morgan’s Holistic dentist page.
Will Insurance Cover a Holistic Dentist?
The reason you can’t find a holistic dentist listed in your book is because Holistic Dentistry is not a recognized specialty with the American Dental Association. There are probably holistic dentists in your book, you just don’t know it.
The thing to do is an internet search for a holistic dentist. Make a list, then see which of them are listed with your insurance. After that, it’s simply a matter of checking their reviews to see if they give quality service and are good with patients.
